These are not sheets printed from an original, handmade design, but are actually hand marbled by artisans using a centuries old technique. (Marbling dates back to the 12th century.) The Portsmouth design is three sheets of dramatic, marbled wrapping paper in swirling colors of brick red, black, charcoal, and metallic gold. The marbling is done on luxurious paper that folds and tapes beautifully (use double-stick tape for stellar results). By wrapping truly distinctive and stunning presents this Christmas season, you are also celebrating the artists who create them!

While truly an international endeavor, I named all of the gift wrap sheets in the collection for places in New England whose Christmas splendor always has my heart. This paper reminded me of the 400-yr old town of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, with its preponderance of brick buildings and brick sidewalks, and the marbling on these sheets reminded me of the undulating coastline that surrounds this harbor town. The center of Portsmouth boasts a decorated Christmas tree every holiday season.
